Traditional methods of sewer repair and replacement require the digging of large, unsightly trenches across your yard or landscaping in order to access the old or broken pipes. Not only is this a major hassle, but it is also time-consuming and costly.
At Power Pro Plumbing Heating & Air, we offer a non-invasive, non-destructive alternative to traditional methods: trenchless sewer repair and replacement.
As the name implies, trenchless sewer repair and replacement do not require our technicians to dig trenches to access pipes. Instead, this method allows us to effectively repair/replace your existing sewer lines with minimal damage to your property.
We proudly serve all of Orange County, the South Bay, and the Greater Los Angeles Area! Free estimates available for all our services.
How Trenchless Sewer Repair & Replacement Works
There are two primary methods of repairing/replacing sewer lines without digging trenches:
- Pipe Bursting: This method fully replaces an existing pipe line. With pipe bursting, a pipe-bursting head is affixed to a length of flexible replacement pipe. The pipe and head is then pulled through the existing piping wherein the bursting head breaks the old piping to make way for the new length of pipe.
- Pipe Lining: Also known as cured-in-place-piping, or CIPP, pipe lining does not involve the removal of the old piping. Instead, a mixture of epoxy and resin is attached to a long, flexible tube (typically made of cloth). The mixture is then pulled through the existing piping and cured with hot air. The new piping cures in place inside the existing piping.
Pros & Cons of Pipe Bursting and Pipe Lining
There are pros and cons to both methods of trenchless sewer repair.
- Pipe bursting allows you to replace old, outdated sewer lines with larger piping. This can help reduce the number of clogs/blockages within the sewer lines. Pipe bursting is also very quick, making it an attractive option for businesses that want to repair or replace sewer lines with minimal downtime.
- Pipe lining, on the other hand, is incredibly durable and long-lasting. In many cases, it can last for up to 50 years, making this a very cost-effective option. Unfortunately, for some pipe systems, it might already be too late to try to fix the existing piping. If the sewer line is already extremely damaged or corroded, this will not work as a viable option.
Regardless of the specific type that best suits your needs, trenchless sewer repair only involves the digging of one or two entry/exit points. Additionally, it is a suitable sewer line repair and replacement option for just about every type of piping.
