Home Safety

How Power Pro Protects Your Home

Most of what keeps a home safe never shows up in a photo: the permit that got pulled, the pressure test that got witnessed, the combustion reading that came back clean, the T&P valve that got tested while the tech was already there. This page is the honest tour of how that work happens — so you know what to expect from us, and what to demand from anyone.

What matters most

  • Licensed C-36 plumbing and C-20 HVAC work, with permits pulled where code requires them — no 'we can skip the city' shortcuts.
  • Safety checks ride along on every visit: gas connections, T&P valves, combustion and venting, shutoff locations.
  • Upfront pricing before work begins — safety decisions shouldn't be made under billing pressure.
  • Maintenance is the real safety product: most emergencies we run were preventable at the previous year's tune-up.

Licensing and permits, without the eye-roll

Permits feel like friction until you understand what they buy: a second set of qualified eyes on gas, water, and combustion work in your home. When we replace a water heater, the permit means an inspector verifies the seismic strapping, the T&P discharge, the venting, and the gas connection. When we run a gas line, the permit means a witnessed pressure test. We pull the permits because the inspection is part of the product — and because unpermitted work becomes your problem at sale time.

The safety checks that ride along free

Any time we're in your home, some checks happen because the tech is standing there anyway.

  • Water heater: T&P valve, strapping, venting, and connection condition.
  • Heating visits: combustion analysis and heat exchanger evaluation, not just a filter change.
  • Plumbing visits: water pressure check (failing regulators are a SoCal staple) and a look at supply line condition.
  • Every visit: you'll know where your main water and gas shutoffs are before we leave, if you didn't already.

Upfront pricing is a safety practice

Safety corners get cut when homeowners feel the meter running. Our pricing is set before work begins, in writing, so the decision about doing the job right — the permit, the proper part, the code-required strap — never competes with fear of an hourly bill. If something we find changes the scope, the price conversation happens before the work does, every time.

Maintenance: the unglamorous safety product

Almost every emergency call has a prequel: the furnace that cracked its exchanger was running on a choked filter; the water heater that flooded the garage was 14 years old with an unexamined T&P; the drain that backed up on Thanksgiving had been slow since spring. Twice-a-year maintenance through our Power Club exists to catch that prequel. It's not exciting. Neither is a house with no emergencies — which is the point.

Common questions

Do you really pull permits for water heater replacements?

Yes — water heater replacement is permitted work in California, and the inspection covers real safety items: strapping, T&P discharge, venting, and gas connection. Companies that skip it are saving themselves an afternoon, not saving you money; the unpermitted install surfaces at sale or claim time.

What should I ask any contractor about safety, including you?

Four questions sort the field fast: Are you licensed for this trade and can I verify the number? Will this be permitted, and who schedules the inspection? What safety checks are included in this visit? And is the price fixed before work begins? Any hedging on the first two is your answer.

What does Power Club maintenance actually include?

Twice-a-year visits covering the heating and cooling tune-ups (combustion check included) plus plumbing safety checks — water pressure, T&P, visible supply lines, water heater condition — with priority scheduling and member pricing. The details and current terms are on the Power Club page.
